 The respect I have for my Igbo friends has increased exponentially. These guys are cats with nine lives<br />

If you're told that  "There's nowhere in the world you won't see an Igbo man." Please don't doubt....yesterday while on duty, I saw two Igbo guys. Not a joke. I mean I saw two Igbo guys plying their trade in Somalia happily.<br />
<br />
These Igbo guys saw us while we were busy inspecting one of the venues to be used for the forthcoming Somalia indirect parliamentarian and presidential election. They walked up to us, greeted us with pigin English "Officers, unah good morning oo, how unah dey enjoy Somalia?"<br />
<br />
We were all shocked. Whaaaaat! Igbo man in Mogadishu, Somalia; the third most deadliest and dangerous country to live in the world. I was in awe with shock.<br />
<br />
How do these guys do it.?<br />
<br />
Truly an Igbo man is naturally a survival. He's a cat with nine lives. He can survive anywhere in the world so long there's business, commerce and people there. If humans live inside Indian ocean or any other ocean in the world, believe me, an Igbo man will be there plying his trade.<br />
<br />
I asked these men what they're doing in Somalia, both of them said they're both Somali football national coaches. One is the national coach and the other the assistance coach.<br />
<br />
How long have you been in Somalia I asked the coach. "I've been here for over four years while my assistance is now doing his second year here"<br />
<br />

"How are you coping with the language barrier, religion barrier, bombing, assassinations, sporadic shooting, food, weather, etc?" I asked with a grin<br />
<br />
"Officer, he no easy for this place ooo. Na that religion thing be the koko for here self. With God by our side, we dey cope and manage with them sha. Some of my boys dey hear good English, so na dem dey assist us for interpretation, but I don dey hear dem language and Swahili language small small sha. As for food, I don dey cope small small, but unah people dey try for us too. The former Nigeria Police troops I made friends with dey always bring some Nigeria food from their camp give us whenever them patrol reach here. And the place wey I dey live no far from here, the place dey very secure... I dey live close to the Police training academy"<br />
<br />
Of a truth, the police training academy otherwise known as General Khaye Police Academy is the most safest and secure place in Mogadishu. Safer than military base. All through the over 25 years of civil war in Somalia, it was ONLY general Khaya Police academy that was not overran by Al-Shabab terrorist. The buildings are all intact but with very minimal bullets and bombs signs. General khaye, stood his ground, fought with his life and made sure Al-Shababs didn't come close to the academy. The academy was remained after him upon his death. In Somalia, Police wear military ranks and use military guns up to armoured tanks. The Police is even more dreaded than the military.<br />

"Since your arrival here, have you gone home" a colleague asked.<br />
<br />
"Yes, I've gone home twice. But I often spend time in neighbouring countries like Uganda, Ethiopia, and Kenya though." He said with a smile.<br />
<br />
"Hope they're paying you guys well" another of my colleague asked<br />
<br />
"My brother na money carry us come here oo, if dem no pay us why we go dey here. Well, the money no big shall but at all at all na him bad. "<br />
<br />
"Like how much" I persisted.<br />
<br />
He smiled "Well, dem dey pay me $400 monthly and my assistance dey collect $300 monthly plus free accommodation".<br />
<br />
"Since your arrival here, I've you seen any of your brothers in this Somalia?" I pinched further.<br />
<br />
"Officer, my people full this country oo, if unah reach Bakaya motor spare parts market, my people full there."<br />
<br />
"How do they cope with Somalis?"<br />
<br />
"Well, if u no break dem laws, you obey everything here, you don't have problem. The terrorists here no dey after individuals, dem dey after the government except you're unlucky to be around their target, that's when individual fall as casualty"<br />
<br />
Now, these are two Nigerian men plus several other Nigerians putting their lives on the line without any protection in the third most deadliest country in the world just to survive and you're in Nigeria with your family and friends, eating whatever you wish and free to visit anyplace you want at will yet, you're still complaining. My brother, wake up and stop complaining.<br />

Abuja – Pastor Joshua Iginla, Senior Pastor, Champions Royal Assembly, Kubwa, Abuja, has given N5 million to Jamila Yusuf, 26, who was allegedly bathed with acid by her fiance. Iginla also gave a new Peugeot 501 to a Nollywood actor, Mr Ayo Emmanuel, popularly known as “Nollywood Policeman”. Iginla, who made the presentation to the beneficiaries at the Church service, also pledged to sponsor the reconstructive surgery for the acid victim in India. Bro Joshua Iginla The Pastor explained that the total sum required for the surgery was about N10 million and encouraged people to contribute to save the victim’s life. He, however, pledged to complete the money by next week with another N5 million if the balance was not raised by then. “I think Nigerians should rise up to defend the rights of women; to lay your hands on a woman is injustice. “I just don’t know how a man can do this (pour acid) on a lady; some people are just animals; how can you disfigure a lady like this. “We have hundreds of them (women) like this that they have done this wickedness to. “I am not doing this for her because she is a member of my Church; I don’t know her from anywhere; she’s even a Muslim and not a Christian. “We are only doing this to preach love and not to convert her to Christianity after her surgery in India,” he said. The Cleric said he would sponsor the trip, feeding and everything that was required for her to live a normal life. “We are working to get them visa this week to go to India; we will pay every bill. “I already have 10,000 U.S. dollars and by next Sunday, I will complete it. “This is an opportunity to show love to your neighbour because she’s not a Christian; your neighbour must not necessarily come from your religion or ethnic group. “This is the problem with the country; we think the person who comes from my religion or ethnic group is the only one that is my brother or sister. “It is not that we have the whole money in the world but this is a spirit of giving,” he said. A medical doctor who followed up her case, Dr John Eghosa, said she had chemical burns and has had surgery at the National Eye Centre, Kaduna, to preserve her eyes. According to him, she has a 60 per cent burns on her face and 10 per cent burns on her body. Presenting the car to Emmanuel, Iginla expressed concern that many Nollywood actors and actresses were suffering due to piracy. “The level of piracy in this country is serious; I hope government will do something about it. “These Nollywood actors and actresses are Nigeria’s ambassadors who are projecting the image of the country to the world favourably. “Many of them have died prematurely because they are hard working but piracy has crippled them. “We enjoy watching their films but we watch them when they are helpless with none to help them. “You think they are rich just because they act rich men’s and women’s roles but many of them get 50,000 naira for a role and they may not get another role until about three months later,” he said. Iginla enjoined Nigerians to assist those in need, saying “I give because I rose from grass to grace; so I understand that I will only live in one house and ride only one car at a time”. Iginla had in May, given out 32 exotic cars to people, including many Nollywood actors and actresses as well as 22 cars in 2015.</div>

 How do you run the Shrine?</div>

 Ah! I don’t know. There are different things to do there. You have to do your books, balance the sheets, make sure there’s diesel for the generator. Like now, people are waiting for me- there are so many things to do there. </div>

So what are some of the challenges? </div>

I think electricity is the most challenging. We use all the profit we make in purchasing diesel to run our generating set.</div>

 Yes, I’m retired but not tired. </div>

What could bring you out of the Shrine? If someone offers me millions of Naira . What passes through your mind whenever you are on stage?</div>

 I just love to dance. So whenever they sing, I just translate their songs into dance and I enjoy it. Dancing is my passion. It makes you shake your back side… That’s Afro beat for you, it’s a sensual dance. I’m even thinking of a reconciliation so that we can join the band.</div>

 Where there times you wanted to give up?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
 Many times, especially when you have to dance for like five to six hours in a row, and you don’t get to rest and eat well. And when you finally get few hours of rest, you think it should all end right there. It’s hard to leave what you have passion for. </div>

Do you sometimes miss dancing? Definitely I do miss it.</div>

 And when that happens, what do you do?</div>

 I get the dancers and we start rehearsing. </div>

Do you wish your father, Fela is still alive to celebrate your achievements as the first child? </div>

I wish Fela was here for different reasons, not to assess me but I missed his company. Especially the way we shared our gists. </div>

What’s the beautiful thing you still remember him for? </div>

There are so many beautiful things to remember him for. I miss sitting and sharing gist with him, his lectures, going to his shows, listening and dancing to his music, him coming to our shows and playing guitar with Femi. So many things that I can’t remember. Fela was full of life.</div>

 Aside Femi and Seun, are you happy that many artistes are not playing Afro beat? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
No, I’m not happy. Afro beat is hard, it’s not an easy to play music, it takes a lot of dedication. And in the whole of Lagos, there are only about three Afro beat bands and I always try to host them during Felabration. I wish more people are taking up the mantle. We must see Afro beat as ours in Nigeria before foreigners take it away from us. When you heard about the Broad Way show, how did you feel? </div>

I was proud that my father made an impact on people’s lives and that a show was staged in honour of him. I remember the first time I ever travelled to New York to see the show and I saw Fela’s mimic live-I was so proud. But I was again sad because Fela wasn’t there to see it. He never saw that in his life time. I loved the show and watched it several times. And there were young guys and ladies who heard about Fela and appreciated him for what he stood for. Hopefully, this will inspire the Nigerian youths to stop running away from his music and who Fela was. And when it finally came to Lagos… Yes, I remember when it was first staged in the Shrine-it was fantastic. Every one in the Shrine loved the show and the casts loved the Shrine. And when the casts got to Eko Hotel, they just loved the fact that when they were singing the song, Nigerians sang along . But the reverse was the case in New York because they couldn’t sing Fela’s songs there-they loved it and didn’t want to leave. </div>

 I have nothing against marriage. I’m just happy where I am. At fifty, you’re set in your way and not sure whether you’ll make a good wife material anymore. I’m a career woman, I face my career which is my life and it takes my time. I traveled a lot too. But for now, my life is in the Shrine. And like I said, I’m in a relationship and we’re both happy together. If it ends in marriage so be it and if it doesn’t, I’m happy. </div>

 It gave me a daughter whom I love very much, She’s the most important thing to me. I remember that I used to smoke before she gained admission into the university. Wife of late Pastor Sam Moses Enenche, brother to maverick Pastor, Paul Enenche of Dunamis International, has just been thrown out of her matrimonial home by her in-laws, barely two weeks after her husband's burial.<br />
The Enenche family decided to strip her off all she shared with her husband just because she had no child for the late Abuja Pastor.<br />
In an emotional laden voice, at midnight, she simply said, "Madam, it is well!".<br />
What baffles me is why she would be so treated under the nose of Dr Paul Enenche.<br />
No matter the reasons given by her husband's family, this is purely wicked and unacceptable.<br />

<p dir="ltr">I saw someone mocking d Namibia boy who invented a phone  dat doesn’t use airtime Jst bcos d invention is big n enormous. And not convenient like our mobile phones today, and it kills me because who’s mocking him on twitter was a youth like him who probably spends 5years of his life browsing. You see the irony?  U’ll see dat dis telecommunications giants will buy dis Namibian  boy and hide his invention. Because he’s a threat to business. Just like Nigeria is prominent in great inventions but nobody hears about them after publishing. The likes of the unijos student who discovered a generator that uses urine as fuel. Years back when I was in high school, I was opportuned to visit a facility on a field trip and they showed us an invention that converts feaces in the latrines into cooking gas, safe and pure for domestic use, using water lotus as a catalyst. Ask me if I ever heared of it again? The Government complain about diversifying economy yet don’t support enterprenuers or fund inventions. U want life to change for you while u crossing your legs, my dear life doesn’t work like that. Even scripturally it says “faith without work is death”</p>
<p dir="ltr">  My brand purplenaija will one day emerge d biggest media platform to showcase talents of orphans and less privileged in our society. It’s my way of giving back to society. Building a brand is not a sprint race, it’s a marathon. A legacy isn’t  built in a day….it takes forever sometimes. But am patient. In the first part of this article i’ve like any other Nigeria complained about our problem, but unlike an average Nigerian, I want to discus possible solutions and a way out, so let’s continue.</p>
<p dir="ltr"> Education they say brings reform, re creates, enlightens. But how come the way we Nigerians love school, yet we so backward and narrowly minded like our fellow brothers and sisters in the African community? It’s simple, the thing is, we in tropical countries get wrong concept of education. Just like we do about religion. Nigeria is amongst the most religious countries, yet so much hate, discrimination and unbelief. This is the reasons why our ancient traditional rulers before the missionary white men came, they owned lands and the white men owned the bible. And they ask them to close their eyes to pray. Back to what we were discussing, Even those who go to school get the wrong inception about school, many Nigerians like to quote how the richest man in the world Bill Gates, and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg dropped out of school, but Never ask the most relevant questions “WHY” why did they have to drop out of school? If education is the key, Yes! Because they found out you go to school and  repeat what u’ve learnt, over and over, that is mediocre, that is limiting, we are not all created alike, our power lies in our variety. School is like bringing a cat, a fish and a monkey under one roof and at the end of the term you set an exam for them to climb a tree, yes the monkey will soar high because he was created for that purpose. So you call the cat and fish, useless or dumb, NO! They are not the problem. We go to school and cram pythagoras theorem and pie and areas of a circle or Daltons Atomic theory and u can’t really relate with this terms or numbers you just gotta endure it to pass and get a degree. Bill and Zuckerberg figure out something ain’t right so they broke out, question is what did they figure? This big names dropped outta sch cos they discovered themselves tru other people teachings and cultures, the likes of  Einstein ,Socrates, the John Daltons and Charles Darwin , YES! they broke out and made it, because dey DISCOVERED themselves early in school. Thank God for them. They discovered themselves, something we Africans haven’t done since the beginning. Education was supposed to expopse you to diverse cultures and great minds and thinkers. So u can think wide, become limitless thinkers, breach gabs and forge your own part. Invent yourself, become something more than just a number in concensus. Let your life matter, your purpose fufilled, We think cos we studied medicine in sch, we must become doctors, and wen it doesn’t work out, we blame witches and govt policies, Go and read abt dis multimillionaire lifestyle and u’ll discover one thing is synonymous with all of them, They are great Readers. Soon i’ll be wrapping up but let me leave this Quotes like I do when lecturing in IDP camps and to purple family wereva I find one.”Donot let schooling interfere with ur Education” you asking what is purple saying? I quote a great mind here ” To destroy someone doesn’t mean u kill or afflict him, NO…. is to take away the ability to recreate himself” the colonial masters took away our ability to recreate ourselves….Dats why we will  loot ourselves dry go abroad just to show d white man they we have it. Trying to be like the white man, forgeting our true identity and our values. We see a fellow brother and pass him because he’s black. A black cop in the US will arrest and mutilate a fellow black man just for being black. Former minister of petroleum could loot money enough to buy a small country like Madagascar, just because she can loot. Money that can’t be spent in an entire lifetime, someone will loot it, a black man would sell his kidney just to live a life to impress strangers, the list goes on and on, but that’s another article coming up.
