EFCC reportedly uncover $3million Lagos hotel Governor Yari built with Paris Club funds

<br /><img height="266" src="http://cdn1.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/efcc_nigeria.jpg" width="400" /><br /><br />Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have reportedly told Sahara Reporters, that they have discovered a hotel being contructed by Governor Yari of Zamfara State, with $3million from the London-Paris Club loan refund.<br /><br />Yari, who is the chairman of the Governor’s Forum, allegedly diverted N19billion reportedly meant for “consultants” from the Paris club loan refund.<br /><br /><br />The money had been illegally paid into the account of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) by Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).<br /><br />It is understood that the hotel is a 100-room property situated in Lekki area of Lagos.<br /><br />EFCC officials say they plan to take over the hotel, as soon as they obtain a court order.<br /><br /><br />Apart from the $3million, Governor Yari is said to have diverted N500million from the Paris Club refund, to pay off a loan. Overall, the Governor is said to have allegedly embezzled the sum of N2.2billion from the N19billion set aside illegally to pay “consultants.”<div>

<img height="215" src="http://www.channelstv.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/fmc-owerri-protest.jpg" width="400" /><span style="font-family: inherit;">They warn that the reinstatement of Dr. Uwakwem will lead to chaosWorkers of the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri have staged a protest over the recall of the former Medical Director, Angela Uwakwem.<br />Dr. Uwakwem was earlier asked to step aside over allegations of financial misappropriation.<br /><br />During the protest on Wednesday, which was carried out by a huge number of workers at the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri, the workers maintained that since the former CMD was relieved, there has been peace in the centre.<br /><br />They added that any attempt to forcefully bring back Dr. Uwakwem will cause chaos in the centre.<br /><br />Doctors, nurses, and other workers of the<a href="http://ladyruchy.com/"> institution in July, 2016, held a similar protest</a>saying since the Interim Management Committee was set up by the government to handle the affairs of the centre, there has been normalcy in the medical institution.<br /><br />A Presidential Directive<br /><br />Their protests follows the directive by the Federal Ministry of Health to reinstate the suspended Medical Director.<br /><br />The directive for her reinstatement is contained in a statement issued by the Minister of State for Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, on Wednesday in Abuja.<br /><br />Dr. Ehanire in statement said the recall of Dr. Uwakwem is with immediate effect adding that the institution’s management would be supported by staff from the ministry.<br /><br />Contrary to the claims of the protesters, the minister argued that the appointment of the Medical Director of the centre is a presidential issue and her removal can only be done through a presidential directive.<br /><br />“Should evidence of misconduct be found against her, Dr Uwakwem will answer for it and face the law as no person shall be protected from justice.<br /><br />“Since Dr Uwakwem’s 4-year tenure is valid until 2017 and no evidence of misconduct against her was raised by a Ministerial fact finding commission, the Ministry desires rule of law to prevail over mob action,” he said</span><span style="color: #606263; font-family: proxima_nova_rgregular, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; font-size: 18.7px; line-height: 30.8px;">.</span></span></div>

<br /><img height="319" src="http://i0.wp.com/porscheclassy.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Aisha-Buhari-new.png?resize=675%2C539" width="400" /><br /><br />Wife of Nigeria’s President, Aisha Buhari, has warned President Mohammadu Buhari that she may not back him at the next election unless he shakes up his government.<br /><br />In a BBC interview, Aisha Buhari said the president “does not know” most of the top officials he has appointed.<br /><img src="http://i0.wp.com/porscheclassy.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Aisha-Buhari-new.png?zoom=1.5&resize=300%2C194" /><br />She suggested the government had been hijacked, saying a “few people” were behind presidential appointments.<br /><br />Mr Buhari was elected last year with a promise to tackle corruption and nepotism in government.<br /><br />His wife’s decision to go public with her concerns will shock many people, but it shows the level of discontent with the president’s leadership, says the BBC’s Naziru Mikailu in the capital, Abuja.<br /><br />The president famously remarked at his inauguration that he “belongs to nobody and belongs to everybody”.<br /><br />In the interview with Naziru Mikailu, Mrs Buhari said: “The president does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don’t know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years.”<br /><br />She said people who did not share the vision of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were now appointed to top posts because of the influence a “few people” wield.<br /><br />“Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position.”<br /><br />Asked to name those who had hijacked the government, she refused, saying: “You will know them if you watch television.”<br /><br />On whether the president was in charge, she said: “That is left for the people to decide.”<br />Mrs Buhari said her husband had not told her whether he would contest the 2019 election.<br /><br />“He is yet to tell me but I have decided as his wife, that if things continue like this up to 2019, I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again.”<br /><br />Asked what she regarded as the government’s major achievement, she said it was to improve security in the north-east where militant Islamist group Boko Haram has waged an insurgency since 2009.<br /><br />“No-one is complaining about being attacked in their own homes. Thankfully everyone can walk around freely, go to places of worship, etc. Even kids in Maiduguri have returned to schools,” Mrs Buhari said, referring to the city which was once the headquarters of the militant group.<br />Source: BBC.</div>

…You’d be in jail’ for e-mails if Trump wins, he tells her In a 30 minutes of presidential debate between Republican U.S presidential candidate, Donald John Trump and his Democratic counterpart, Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, you might have thought the event was an intense discussion between Trump and Clinton over Obamacare, terrorism, taxes and the role of Muslims in America. Clinton vs Trump Yet those first 30 minutes defined the candidates’ second encounter. Trump turned accusations that he spoke crudely about women into retorts that Clinton’s husband, former president Bill Clinton, did far worse by sexually assaulting women. Just before the debate began, he even brought those women together before television cameras. Clinton used the town-hall style forum at Washington University in St. Louis to argue that Trump’s words showed the real man — one who isn’t fit to be president. She refused to engage in a point-by-point rebuttal of Trump’s charges against her husband but criticized the Republican’s temperament in an exchange over his late-night tweets. In many ways, it was exactly the event Republicans feared — Trump living up to his threat to bring Bill Clinton into the debate and even saying he would try to jail Clinton if he wins the election — and it seems unlikely that Trump’s performance will do anything stop the defections from a campaign in free-fall. And the public mudslinging — along with Trump’s admission he took hundreds of millions in tax deductions — seemed certain to overshadow attempts to hit Clinton over Obamacare, foreign policy, and revelations about her paid speeches to Wall Street. Here’s the tale of the tape: Lewd Boasts The early minutes were dominated by the story that has gripped the political world for the past 48 hours: Trump’s lewd comments about women in a 2005 tape that became public on Friday. Pressed on the issue, Trump repeatedly dismissed his words as “locker-room talk” while insisting that he had “great respect for women.” “I’m not proud of it,” he said. “I apologize to my family. I apologize to the American people.” Trump has seen a flood of Republican leaders abandon his campaign after the release of the tape in which he crudely describes attempts to force himself on women sexually and to seduce a married woman. A number of Republican members of Congress and governors withdrew their support for his campaign, and close allies — including his vice presidential running mate, Mike Pence — released statements critical of the comments. Pressed by Anderson Cooper, one of the debate moderators, about whether he had actually carried out the sexual assault described in the conversation, Trump initially demurred, before saying that he hadn’t. At first, Clinton avoided discussing the controversy head-on, responding to a teacher’s question about the tone and tenor of the campaign by describing her aspirations to bring Americans together. But as the conversation continued, Clinton said the tape was evidence of Trump’s true feelings about women. “What we all saw and heard on Friday was Donald talking about women,” Clinton said. “What he thinks about women. What he does to women.” She also said it was evidence the Republican nominee was unfit to serve as president, unlike predecessors his party put forward. “Donald Trump is different,” she said. Bill Clinton’s Past Trump telegraphed that he was ready to slam Clinton over her husband’s sexual misconduct shortly before the debate began, appearing in front of television cameras with women who had previously accused the former president of unwelcome advances. Sure enough, Trump quickly pivoted from tough questioning about the 2005 tape to a condemnation of Bill Clinton’s conduct. “Mine were words, his were action,” Trump said. The Republican nominee went on to describe the former president as having treated women worse than “anybody in the history of politics” and “disgraceful.” “Bill Clinton was abusive to women,” he said. “Hillary Clinton attacked those women.” Trump invited three of Clinton’s accusers — Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey — to the debate, as well as Kathy Shelton, a child rape victim angry that Hillary Clinton had served as defense attorney for her rapist. Jones, an Arkansas state employee who accused Clinton in 1994 of making an unwanted sexual advance, also said the Clintons had attempted to find out sordid information about her. It was in a deposition for a lawsuit brought by Jones that the president lied about an affair he had with Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern. Congressional Republicans launched impeachment proceedings over the incident. During that investigation, Broaddrick, a campaign volunteer in the late 1970s, told FBI investigators that Clinton raped her. In subsequent interviews, she has said that Hillary Clinton was aware of the incident and had made veiled threats to her. The former president has denied a alleged sexual assault occurred. Shelton was 12 years old when she was allegedly raped by 41-year-old Thomas Alfred Taylor on the side of an Arkansas road. Clinton, then a 27-year-old law professor, defended Taylor as part of her work for a law clinic for underprivileged defendants. Taylor’s charges were reduced from first-degree rape, and he served just 10 months in jail. Clinton said Trump’s characterization of the cases was “not right,” and cited first lady Michelle Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention. “When you go low, we go high,” Clinton said, echoing that address. ‘In Jail’ In one of the most dramatic moments of the debate, Trump looked at Clinton and said that as president he would seek a special prosecutor to investigate her use of a private e-mail server while working as President Barack Obama’s secretary of state. It’s “just awfully good that someone with the temperament of Trump” isn’t in charge of law enforcement, Clinton responded. “Because you’d be in jail,” Trump interjected. The e-mail issue has haunted Clinton throughout her campaign and will continue to do so in the month remaining. It’s regularly cited as a reason many voters don’t trust her. Trump falsely said that Clinton destroyed 33,000 e-mails after they were subpoenaed. She and her legal team did so earlier on the grounds that they were personal and not work-related. A technician said he acted on his own to delete an archive of e-mails after a congressional subpoena because he’d failed to do so earlier. Pushed by the debate moderators to respond to specific statements made by the FBI after its investigation, Clinton responded by reiterating her position that using the private e-mail system was a “mistake.” She added, “I’m very sorry about that” and noted that the FBI probe found no criminal activity. Clinton didn’t mention that FBI Director James Comey called her handling of classified information “extremely careless” or that her public explanations about the system have repeatedly changed. She initially said she sent no e-mails with classified information but later said she sent none that were marked classified and finally settled on saying she sent none that were marked classified in the “header” at the top. Those shifting explanations came as the FBI concluded that more than 100 messages in more than 50 threads contained classified information at the time that they were sent and that three had markings in the body of the text showing they were confidential, a type of classification. The e-mail issue isn’t over. The State Department on Friday started releasing hundreds of additional work-related e-mails found by the FBI but not turned over by Clinton. The department is under court order to release more of them before Election Day. Trump’s Taxes Clinton, who has posted nine years of her tax returns online, repeated her call for Trump to post his. Trump has declined to do so, saying he’s under audit by the Internal Revenue Service, and will release tax returns once that audit is complete. There’s no law to prevent him from releasing them, even if they are under audit. Clinton referred to the recent disclosure of state tax forms from 1995 that showed Trump recorded a $916 million loss that year — a loss so large it might have allowed him to avoid or reduce his federal income taxes for as many as 18 years, according to tax specialists. Trump acknowledged for the first time Sunday night that he had used that loss to avoid federal income taxes — though he didn’t say for how long, and he said such tax-avoidance is common practice among wealthy businessmen. “Did you use that $916 million loss to avoid paying personal federal income taxes?” moderator Cooper asked. “Of course I do,” Trump responded. Trump also said that “most” of Clinton’s donors have done the same. “I know many of her donors. Her donors took massive tax write-offs,” he said. Trump said that a lot of tax deductions over the years have come through depreciating the value of his real-estate holdings. “A lot of things that Hillary, as a senator, allowed,” Trump said. “And she’ll always allow them because the people that give her all this money — they want it.” Trump also said: “I pay hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes” and said that includes federal taxes. Syria and Refugees Trump broke with his closest ally on his Syria policy during the debate: his own running mate. Martha Raddatz, the other debate moderator, asked Trump if he agreed with his vice presidential nominee, Pence, who said during the vice presidential candidates’ debate that their administration would deploy ground forces in Syria. “He and I haven’t spoken, and I disagree,” Trump said. Trump proved evasive when Raddatz tried to pin down why he changed his policy on Muslim immigration amid the refugee crisis in Syria. Trump said his position had “morphed into an extreme vetting” of immigrants and refugees from areas with high terrorist activity, but didn’t answer — even after being pressed –about why he abandoned his original call for a ban on immigration by Muslims. Trump called Syrian refugees “the great Trojan horse of all time” and said the U.S. had “no idea” who was entering the country. Refugees to the U.S. are subject to an intense vetting process that takes more than a year and involves background checks by multiple agencies. Clinton has said she would increase the number of Syrian refugees coming to the U.S. to 65,000. That would amount to an 81 percent increase over the current level. She defended that position in the debate, saying the U.S. needed to shoulder more of the burden of the humanitarian crisis. She also attacked Trump’s earlier call for a ban on Muslim immigrants as anti-American. “It is important for us as a policy not to say, as Donald said, we’re going to ban people based on religion,” Clinton said. “How do you do that? We are a country founded on religious freedom and liberty.” The pair also sparred over support for the Iraq war, with Trump saying he “would not have had our people in Iraq.” Clinton said fact-checkers had debunked that claim. When Trump was asked whether he supported going to war in Iraq in a 2002 appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show, Trump said, “Yeah, I guess so. You know, I wish it was, I wish the first time it was done correctly.” In a 2004 interview in Esquire magazine, he said “all of the reasons for the war were blatantly wrong. All this for nothing!” As a senator from New York, Clinton voted in 2002 to give President George W. Bush the authority to wage the Iraq war, a decision that may have cost her the Democratic nomination in 2008 and which she later called a mistake. Clinton has said she wouldn’t have voted for the war if she’d known at the time what the world learned later, that Iraq didn’t have the weapons of mass destruction claimed by the Bush administration. Obamacare Dispute Both candidates said Obamacare has problems. But while Clinton said she wants to improve “what works” about the Affordable Care Act, Trump called it “a disaster” and said it will “never work.” The law has succeeded at its primary goal. It has expanded insurance coverage to 20 million Americans who previously lacked it, driving the U.S. uninsured rate down by better than six percentage points to 10.8 percent, according to a Gallup survey. Clinton accurately described some of its most popular features, including allowing parents to keep their children on their health insurance plans until they turn 26 and prohibiting insurers from refusing coverage for sick people or charging more based on health or gender. She accurately said that those benefits would be “lost” if the law were repealed, absent a replacement policy. Clinton said she would “get costs down and keep quality up” and would provide “additional help for small businesses.” She didn’t explain how she would do that, and the debate moderators didn’t challenge her vague promises. Trump said he would improve U.S. insurance markets by “getting rid of lines around states” — a reference to a years-old Republican proposal to allow insurers in one state to sell plans in others without being subject to state regulators. State-level regulation of health insurance predates the Affordable Care Act, however, and changing that structure is opposed by state insurance regulators, including Republicans, who say consumers could be harmed and that out-of-state insurers would have trouble assembling sufficient local networks of doctors and hospitals. Trump accurately said that “lines around states” were “almost gone” until just before the Affordable Care Act was passed by Congress. The House version of the legislation would have created a single national insurance exchange. But Congress passed the Senate version of the bill, which created separate insurance exchanges in all 50 states. Trump said that Clinton wants a “single-payer plan,” a system in which the government pays all of its citizens’ medical bills directly. She has never publicly advocated such a change, and accurately said during the debate that the U.S. “has an employer-based” health care system in which most Americans are covered through their jobs. The candidate who has previously advocated for a single-payer plan, in fact, is Trump. He has since disavowed that position.</div>

DSS Judges Raid Details: See Names Of Judges And How Much Recovered From Each

<p dir="ltr">Sources at the Department of State Security (DSS) has revealed that the overnight raid on the residences of some nine court judges, culminating in the arrest of several of them, came as a result of petitions and decisions of the National Judicial Council (NJC), a statutory body that regulates the activities of judges.<br>
According to Sahara Reporters, two DSS sources, however, stated that contrary to earlier reports, the Supreme Court nominee for Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, was not targeted in any of the raids conducted so far. Justice Onnohen reportedly raised alarm to friends when he noticed police action next to his residence as a team of security agents swooped on his next door neighbor, Justice Sylvanus Ngwunta. </p>
<p dir="ltr">A press release issued by the DSS indicated that Justice Onnohen is not under investigation. It was learnt that the justice's appointment is being fast-tracked to become the CJN in a few days, Sahara Reporters says</p>
<p dir="ltr">However, two Supreme Court justices, John Inyang Okoro and Sylvanus Ngwuta, were arrested in connection with the receipt of bribes from Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State. Justice Ngwuta reportedly traveled to Qatar to receive bribes that he shared with Justice Okoro and other justices in order to help Mr. Wike to win a case at the Supreme Court regarding his disputed election. During a search of his home Justice Ngwunta was in possession of N35,208m, $319,475, 25,890 pounds and 280 Euros<br>
The two judges have been linked with massive properties development in Abuja and Calabar. Justice Okoro is said to be building seven houses simultaneously in Calabar with the help of former Governor Godswill Akpabio and his predecessor Udom Emmanuel in Akwa Ibom state. Justice Okoro had N4.35m, $38,833 and 1000 Euros in his possession during his arrest this morning.<br>
It was learned that Governor Wike sprang up late at night to obstruct the arrest of a judge in Port Harcourt. The altercation that ensued created a tense atmosphere between the Governor and security operatives sent to arrest the judge. </p>
<p dir="ltr">One source told SaharaReporters that the judge involved was Justice Abdullahi Liman of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt. Justice Liman, who is yet to be apprehended reportedly took $2million from Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party to give a judgement that “overthrew” the faction led by a former governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff. Governor Wike reportedly transferred the funds in cash to Liman in Ghana, before it was ferried to his home in Port Harcourt. The bribe was to be shared between Lima and the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Auta. When the team arrived the house in Port Harcourt where the loot was kept Gov. Wike mobilized his men to counter the DSS team with the aid of the State’s Police Commissioner. Another source also stated that one Justice Uche Nma Agomoh of the Federal High Court in the same city who was a lackey of the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Joseph Daudu was also involved in the scam. </p>
<p dir="ltr">A statement issued by the DSS stated that their team was obstructed by the governor and some thugs with the help of officers from a sister agency, which SaharaReporters learnt is a reference to the Nigerian police. <br>
A security source claimed that Governor Wike left when confronted by police and DSS agents who threatened to shoot him, however, the obstruction aided movement of the cash found on the property. Governor Wike told a different version to the press, claiming he did not know who the judge was.<br>
As early as 11 p.m. Nigerian time, the siege on the homes of judges became public knowledge when DSS agents raided the home of a young judge, Dimgba Nnamdi, who apparently has been a thorn in the side of the DSS lately. When the siege was over, the judge's brother had been brutalized, after which the security agents showed their victim a "search warrant" meant for Justice Okoro. Justice Dimgba Nnamdi was "roughened up" but not immediately arrested. However, a DSS source stated Justice Dimgba is guilty of corruption and had been arrested as well.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Justice Muazu Pindiga, who was arrested in Gombe, was transported to the DSS headquarters in Abuja. A DSS source told our correspondent that Justice Pindiga was cooperating with the DSS regarding his role in a bribery scheme over the Rivers State election tribunal from which he was removed as a judge as Saharareporters exposed him for receiving N100m from Governor Wike.</p>
<p dir="ltr">SaharaReporters learned that Justice Muhammad Ladan Tsamiya, an Appeal Court justice who was recently "compulsorily retired" by the NJC, was not home when a DSS team invaded his home in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja, he reportedly surrendered to the DSS later this morning. <br>
One of the most dramatic scenes took place when the DSS team stormed the home of Justice Adeniyi Ademola. When the team ordered Justice Ademola to come out, the judge claimed he was not home, but his cellphone signal gave him away. He was subsequently arrested with at least N300 million found in different local and foreign currencies in his bedroom. Specifically the same of N54m cash, $171,779. 4,400 Euros, 1,010 Rupees, and 80 pounds was found in his residence.<br>
A different team also arrested Justice Kabiru Auta in Kano. </p>
<p dir="ltr">One DSS source told our reporter that the raids were meant to be carried out by joint DSS and the Nigerian police teams, adding that the police bungled some of the raids by apparently tipping off their targets.<br>
Several security agents stated that the raids took place following independent investigations that were triggered by petitions submitted to the NJC against some of the judges. According to one of the operatives,  none of the nine judges targeted haven't spent their salaries in the last two years. </p>
<p dir="ltr">One source revealed that the raids were originally planned for last week, but had to be postponed for "strategic reasons."<br>
A statement issued by the DSS stated that the agency had recovered large sums of foreign and local currencies. The DSS gave a breakdown of the recovered funds as follows: <br></p>

 OWERRI—Bishops of the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, Anglican Communion, have called on Imo State Government to “immediately halt any plan to allocate grazing fields to nomadic people.” The Anglican clerics also argued that “since cattle rearing is a private business, it must not be given preferential patronage.” The plea was part of the five-point communique they issued at the end of their 28 Regular Provincial Council Meeting, held at the Cathedral Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, Oguta. While condemning in its entirety, what they called “the menace of armed cattle herdsmen and the mayhem they have continued to unleash on innocent citizens”, the clerics equally lamented that their atrocities have continued unabated. “The recent killing of unsuspecting people of Akokwa in Ideato North local government area of Imo State, in their homes, shows that the state is in danger of more daring attacks,” the clerics said. The bishops called on Governor Rochas Okorocha to “rise to the occasion by ensuring adequate protection of lives and property in the state”. The communique equally called on Imo lawmakers to “immediately enact a law to protect the lives and property of the citizens from callous and unprovoked attacks by armed herdsmen”. The federal and state governments were equally urged to take urgent steps to save the lives of Imo people, from the danger posed by the deplorable state of roads. Taking a hard look at the prevailing economic milieu, the bishops lamented that there is so much hunger in the country, and passionately appealed to Okorocha to “desist from acts that will further bring hardship on the people.” They particularly mentioned the demolition of people’s homes and all forms of levies and taxes for emblems, “no matter how plausible the motive may seem at this time in the history of the country."</div>

The tower basically acts as a giant vacuum cleaner for smog. It captures small pollution particles – PM2.5 and PM10 – and releases clean air, leaving the surrounding area approximately 75 percent cleaner, Roosegaarde said to CNN Money ahead of its unveiling in Beijing.<br />

It is reported that the tower can clean 30,000 cubic meters of air every hour, and the pollution particles it sucks in are subject to high pressure for around half hour, before being sealed within a tight resin cube as a “smog gemstone” that can be used for jewelry.<br />

Beijing has struggled with serious pollution for a long time. Last year, the city issued its first ever red alert for heavy pollution, the highest possible alert in the city’s four-tier warning system. To fight back against smog, the city has invested 760 billion yuan (roughly 114 billion US dollars) since 2014.</div>

<p dir="ltr">A source close to Mr. Emefiele told SaharaReporters that Mrs. Emefiele was kidnapped along the Benin-Agbor Road.</p>

The EFCC arrested Uzodinma Kingsley Agbazue for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy and extortion

<p dir="ltr">The EFCC on Thursday, September 15, 2016, arrested one of its operatives, Uzodinma Kingsley Agbazue for offences bordering on criminal conspiracy and extortion.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Agbazue, a Deputy Detective Superintendent, DDS, was arrested following a complaint by a lawmaker currently under investigation by the Commission, alleging that the operative collected N15million from him with a promise to give him soft landing by compromising the investigation.</p>
<p dir="ltr">According to the complainant, Agbazue allegedly approached him, claiming he had been mandated by the officer handling the case to discuss and reach an agreement on how to “kill the case”. Following the approach, a sum of N15million was given to Agbazue whose game plan collapsed after the Investigating officer, who was ignorant of his scheme, refused to do his bidding. With the investigation gathering increased momentum after parting with the hefty sum, the complainant became uncomfortable and demanded a refund.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The complainant stated that, when he requested for the refund of his money, Agbazue only returned N5million claiming that the balance of N10million had been given to someone “to kill the case from the top”.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The complainant also alleged that the operative collected N1million at a different time as assistance for settlement of his wife’s medical bill. Agbazue’s action is in contravention of the Commission’s mandate and ideals as the EFCC will not solicit or accept gratification from a suspect to compromise a case under investigation. The suspect will be subjected to administrative action as precursor to possible prosecution at the end of the investigation.</p>
