<br /><img height="319" src="http://i0.wp.com/porscheclassy.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Aisha-Buhari-new.png?resize=675%2C539" width="400" /><br /><br />Wife of Nigeria’s President, Aisha Buhari, has warned President Mohammadu Buhari that she may not back him at the next election unless he shakes up his government.<br /><br />In a BBC interview, Aisha Buhari said the president “does not know” most of the top officials he has appointed.<br /><img src="http://i0.wp.com/porscheclassy.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Aisha-Buhari-new.png?zoom=1.5&resize=300%2C194" /><br />She suggested the government had been hijacked, saying a “few people” were behind presidential appointments.<br /><br />Mr Buhari was elected last year with a promise to tackle corruption and nepotism in government.<br /><br />His wife’s decision to go public with her concerns will shock many people, but it shows the level of discontent with the president’s leadership, says the BBC’s Naziru Mikailu in the capital, Abuja.<br /><br />The president famously remarked at his inauguration that he “belongs to nobody and belongs to everybody”.<br /><br />In the interview with Naziru Mikailu, Mrs Buhari said: “The president does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don’t know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years.”<br /><br />She said people who did not share the vision of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were now appointed to top posts because of the influence a “few people” wield.<br /><br />“Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position.”<br /><br />Asked to name those who had hijacked the government, she refused, saying: “You will know them if you watch television.”<br /><br />On whether the president was in charge, she said: “That is left for the people to decide.”<br />Mrs Buhari said her husband had not told her whether he would contest the 2019 election.<br /><br />“He is yet to tell me but I have decided as his wife, that if things continue like this up to 2019, I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again.”<br /><br />Asked what she regarded as the government’s major achievement, she said it was to improve security in the north-east where militant Islamist group Boko Haram has waged an insurgency since 2009.<br /><br />“No-one is complaining about being attacked in their own homes. …You’d be in jail’ for e-mails if Trump wins, he tells her In a 30 minutes of presidential debate between Republican U.S presidential candidate, Donald John Trump and his Democratic counterpart, Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, you might have thought the event was an intense discussion between Trump and Clinton over Obamacare, terrorism, taxes and the role of Muslims in America. Clinton vs Trump Yet those first 30 minutes defined the candidates’ second encounter. Trump turned accusations that he spoke crudely about women into retorts that Clinton’s husband, former president Bill Clinton, did far worse by sexually assaulting women. Just before the debate began, he even brought those women together before television cameras. Clinton used the town-hall style forum at Washington University in St. Louis to argue that Trump’s words showed the real man — one who isn’t fit to be president. She refused to engage in a point-by-point rebuttal of Trump’s charges against her husband but criticized the Republican’s temperament in an exchange over his late-night tweets. In many ways, it was exactly the event Republicans feared — Trump living up to his threat to bring Bill Clinton into the debate and even saying he would try to jail Clinton if he wins the election — and it seems unlikely that Trump’s performance will do anything stop the defections from a campaign in free-fall. And the public mudslinging — along with Trump’s admission he took hundreds of millions in tax deductions — seemed certain to overshadow attempts to hit Clinton over Obamacare, foreign policy, and revelations about her paid speeches to Wall Street. Here’s the tale of the tape: Lewd Boasts The early minutes were dominated by the story that has gripped the political world for the past 48 hours: Trump’s lewd comments about women in a 2005 tape that became public on Friday. Pressed on the issue, Trump repeatedly dismissed his words as “locker-room talk” while insisting that he had “great respect for women.” “I’m not proud of it,” he said. “I apologize to my family. I apologize to the American people.” Trump has seen a flood of Republican leaders abandon his campaign after the release of the tape in which he crudely describes attempts to force himself on women sexually and to seduce a married woman. A number of Republican members of Congress and governors withdrew their support for his campaign, and close allies — including his vice presidential running mate, Mike Pence — released statements critical of the comments. Pressed by Anderson Cooper, one of the debate moderators, about whether he had actually carried out the sexual assault described in the conversation, Trump initially demurred, before saying that he hadn’t. At first, Clinton avoided discussing the controversy head-on, responding to a teacher’s question about the tone and tenor of the campaign by describing her aspirations to bring Americans together. But as the conversation continued, Clinton said the tape was evidence of Trump’s true feelings about women. “What we all saw and heard on Friday was Donald talking about women,” Clinton said. “What he thinks about women. What he does to women.” She also said it was evidence the Republican nominee was unfit to serve as president, unlike predecessors his party put forward. “Donald Trump is different,” she said. Bill Clinton’s Past Trump telegraphed that he was ready to slam Clinton over her husband’s sexual misconduct shortly before the debate began, appearing in front of television cameras with women who had previously accused the former president of unwelcome advances. Sure enough, Trump quickly pivoted from tough questioning about the 2005 tape to a condemnation of Bill Clinton’s conduct. “Mine were words, his were action,” Trump said. The Republican nominee went on to describe the former president as having treated women worse than “anybody in the history of politics” and “disgraceful.” “Bill Clinton was abusive to women,” he said. “Hillary Clinton attacked those women.” Trump invited three of Clinton’s accusers — Paula Jones, Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey — to the debate, as well as Kathy Shelton, a child rape victim angry that Hillary Clinton had served as defense attorney for her rapist. Jones, an Arkansas state employee who accused Clinton in 1994 of making an unwanted sexual advance, also said the Clintons had attempted to find out sordid information about her. It was in a deposition for a lawsuit brought by Jones that the president lied about an affair he had with Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern. Congressional Republicans launched impeachment proceedings over the incident. During that investigation, Broaddrick, a campaign volunteer in the late 1970s, told FBI investigators that Clinton raped her. In subsequent interviews, she has said that Hillary Clinton was aware of the incident and had made veiled threats to her. The former president has denied a alleged sexual assault occurred. Shelton was 12 years old when she was allegedly raped by 41-year-old Thomas Alfred Taylor on the side of an Arkansas road. Clinton, then a 27-year-old law professor, defended Taylor as part of her work for a law clinic for underprivileged defendants. Taylor’s charges were reduced from first-degree rape, and he served just 10 months in jail. Clinton said Trump’s characterization of the cases was “not right,” and cited first lady Michelle Obama’s speech at the Democratic National Convention. “When you go low, we go high,” Clinton said, echoing that address. ‘In Jail’ In one of the most dramatic moments of the debate, Trump looked at Clinton and said that as president he would seek a special prosecutor to investigate her use of a private e-mail server while working as President Barack Obama’s secretary of state. It’s “just awfully good that someone with the temperament of Trump” isn’t in charge of law enforcement, Clinton responded. “Because you’d be in jail,” Trump interjected. The e-mail issue has haunted Clinton throughout her campaign and will continue to do so in the month remaining. It’s regularly cited as a reason many voters don’t trust her. Trump falsely said that Clinton destroyed 33,000 e-mails after they were subpoenaed. She and her legal team did so earlier on the grounds that they were personal and not work-related. A technician said he acted on his own to delete an archive of e-mails after a congressional subpoena because he’d failed to do so earlier. Pushed by the debate moderators to respond to specific statements made by the FBI after its investigation, Clinton responded by reiterating her position that using the private e-mail system was a “mistake.” She added, “I’m very sorry about that” and noted that the FBI probe found no criminal activity. Clinton didn’t mention that FBI Director James Comey called her handling of classified information “extremely careless” or that her public explanations about the system have repeatedly changed. She initially said she sent no e-mails with classified information but later said she sent none that were marked classified and finally settled on saying she sent none that were marked classified in the “header” at the top. Those shifting explanations came as the FBI concluded that more than 100 messages in more than 50 threads contained classified information at the time that they were sent and that three had markings in the body of the text showing they were confidential, a type of classification. The e-mail issue isn’t over. The State Department on Friday started releasing hundreds of additional work-related e-mails found by the FBI but not turned over by Clinton. The department is under court order to release more of them before Election Day. Trump’s Taxes Clinton, who has posted nine years of her tax returns online, repeated her call for Trump to post his. Trump has declined to do so, saying he’s under audit by the Internal Revenue Service, and will release tax returns once that audit is complete. There’s no law to prevent him from releasing them, even if they are under audit. Clinton referred to the recent disclosure of state tax forms from 1995 that showed Trump recorded a $916 million loss that year — a loss so large it might have allowed him to avoid or reduce his federal income taxes for as many as 18 years, according to tax specialists. Trump acknowledged for the first time Sunday night that he had used that loss to avoid federal income taxes — though he didn’t say for how long, and he said such tax-avoidance is common practice among wealthy businessmen. “Did you use that $916 million loss to avoid paying personal federal income taxes?” moderator Cooper asked. “Of course I do,” Trump responded. Trump also said that “most” of Clinton’s donors have done the same. “I know many of her donors. Her donors took massive tax write-offs,” he said. Trump said that a lot of tax deductions over the years have come through depreciating the value of his real-estate holdings. “A lot of things that Hillary, as a senator, allowed,” Trump said. “And she’ll always allow them because the people that give her all this money — they want it.” Trump also said: “I pay hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes” and said that includes federal taxes. Syria and Refugees Trump broke with his closest ally on his Syria policy during the debate: his own running mate. Martha Raddatz, the other debate moderator, asked Trump if he agreed with his vice presidential nominee, Pence, who said during the vice presidential candidates’ debate that their administration would deploy ground forces in Syria. “He and I haven’t spoken, and I disagree,” Trump said. Trump proved evasive when Raddatz tried to pin down why he changed his policy on Muslim immigration amid the refugee crisis in Syria. Trump said his position had “morphed into an extreme vetting” of immigrants and refugees from areas with high terrorist activity, but didn’t answer — even after being pressed –about why he abandoned his original call for a ban on immigration by Muslims. Trump called Syrian refugees “the great Trojan horse of all time” and said the U.S. had “no idea” who was entering the country. Refugees to the U.S. are subject to an intense vetting process that takes more than a year and involves background checks by multiple agencies. Clinton has said she would increase the number of Syrian refugees coming to the U.S. to 65,000. That would amount to an 81 percent increase over the current level. She defended that position in the debate, saying the U.S. needed to shoulder more of the burden of the humanitarian crisis. She also attacked Trump’s earlier call for a ban on Muslim immigrants as anti-American. “It is important for us as a policy not to say, as Donald said, we’re going to ban people based on religion,” Clinton said. “How do you do that? We are a country founded on religious freedom and liberty.” The pair also sparred over support for the Iraq war, with Trump saying he “would not have had our people in Iraq.” Clinton said fact-checkers had debunked that claim. When Trump was asked whether he supported going to war in Iraq in a 2002 appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show, Trump said, “Yeah, I guess so. You know, I wish it was, I wish the first time it was done correctly.” In a 2004 interview in Esquire magazine, he said “all of the reasons for the war were blatantly wrong. All this for nothing!” As a senator from New York, Clinton voted in 2002 to give President George W. Bush the authority to wage the Iraq war, a decision that may have cost her the Democratic nomination in 2008 and which she later called a mistake. Clinton has said she wouldn’t have voted for the war if she’d known at the time what the world learned later, that Iraq didn’t have the weapons of mass destruction claimed by the Bush administration. Obamacare Dispute Both candidates said Obamacare has problems. But while Clinton said she wants to improve “what works” about the Affordable Care Act, Trump called it “a disaster” and said it will “never work.” The law has succeeded at its primary goal. It has expanded insurance coverage to 20 million Americans who previously lacked it, driving the U.S. uninsured rate down by better than six percentage points to 10.8 percent, according to a Gallup survey. Clinton accurately described some of its most popular features, including allowing parents to keep their children on their health insurance plans until they turn 26 and prohibiting insurers from refusing coverage for sick people or charging more based on health or gender. She accurately said that those benefits would be “lost” if the law were repealed, absent a replacement policy. Clinton said she would “get costs down and keep quality up” and would provide “additional help for small businesses.” She didn’t explain how she would do that, and the debate moderators didn’t challenge her vague promises. Trump said he would improve U.S. insurance markets by “getting rid of lines around states” — a reference to a years-old Republican proposal to allow insurers in one state to sell plans in others without being subject to state regulators. State-level regulation of health insurance predates the Affordable Care Act, however, and changing that structure is opposed by state insurance regulators, including Republicans, who say consumers could be harmed and that out-of-state insurers would have trouble assembling sufficient local networks of doctors and hospitals. Trump accurately said that “lines around states” were “almost gone” until just before the Affordable Care Act was passed by Congress. The House version of the legislation would have created a single national insurance exchange. But Congress passed the Senate version of the bill, which created separate insurance exchanges in all 50 states. Trump said that Clinton wants a “single-payer plan,” a system in which the government pays all of its citizens’ medical bills directly. She has never publicly advocated such a change, and accurately said during the debate that the U.S. “has an employer-based” health care system in which most Americans are covered through their jobs. The candidate who has previously advocated for a single-payer plan, in fact, is Trump. He has since disavowed that position.</div>

DSS Judges Raid Details: See Names Of Judges And How Much Recovered From Each

<p dir="ltr">Sources at the Department of State Security (DSS) has revealed that the overnight raid on the residences of some nine court judges, culminating in the arrest of several of them, came as a result of petitions and decisions of the National Judicial Council (NJC), a statutory body that regulates the activities of judges.<br>
According to Sahara Reporters, two DSS sources, however, stated that contrary to earlier reports, the Supreme Court nominee for Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, was not targeted in any of the raids conducted so far. Justice Onnohen reportedly raised alarm to friends when he noticed police action next to his residence as a team of security agents swooped on his next door neighbor, Justice Sylvanus Ngwunta. </p>
<p dir="ltr">A press release issued by the DSS indicated that Justice Onnohen is not under investigation. It was learnt that the justice's appointment is being fast-tracked to become the CJN in a few days, Sahara Reporters says</p>
<p dir="ltr">However, two Supreme Court justices, John Inyang Okoro and Sylvanus Ngwuta, were arrested in connection with the receipt of bribes from Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State. Justice Ngwuta reportedly traveled to Qatar to receive bribes that he shared with Justice Okoro and other justices in order to help Mr. Wike to win a case at the Supreme Court regarding his disputed election. During a search of his home Justice Ngwunta was in possession of N35,208m, $319,475, 25,890 pounds and 280 Euros<br>
The two judges have been linked with massive properties development in Abuja and Calabar. Justice Okoro is said to be building seven houses simultaneously in Calabar with the help of former Governor Godswill Akpabio and his predecessor Udom Emmanuel in Akwa Ibom state. Justice Okoro had N4.35m, $38,833 and 1000 Euros in his possession during his arrest this morning.<br>
It was learned that Governor Wike sprang up late at night to obstruct the arrest of a judge in Port Harcourt. The altercation that ensued created a tense atmosphere between the Governor and security operatives sent to arrest the judge. </p>
<p dir="ltr">One source told SaharaReporters that the judge involved was Justice Abdullahi Liman of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt. Justice Liman, who is yet to be apprehended reportedly took $2million from Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party to give a judgement that “overthrew” the faction led by a former governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff. Governor Wike reportedly transferred the funds in cash to Liman in Ghana, before it was ferried to his home in Port Harcourt. The bribe was to be shared between Lima and the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Auta. When the team arrived the house in Port Harcourt where the loot was kept Gov. Wike mobilized his men to counter the DSS team with the aid of the State’s Police Commissioner. Another source also stated that one Justice Uche Nma Agomoh of the Federal High Court in the same city who was a lackey of the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Joseph Daudu was also involved in the scam. </p>
<p dir="ltr">A statement issued by the DSS stated that their team was obstructed by the governor and some thugs with the help of officers from a sister agency, which SaharaReporters learnt is a reference to the Nigerian police. <br>
A security source claimed that Governor Wike left when confronted by police and DSS agents who threatened to shoot him, however, the obstruction aided movement of the cash found on the property. Governor Wike told a different version to the press, claiming he did not know who the judge was.<br>
As early as 11 p.m. Nigerian time, the siege on the homes of judges became public knowledge when DSS agents raided the home of a young judge, Dimgba Nnamdi, who apparently has been a thorn in the side of the DSS lately. When the siege was over, the judge's brother had been brutalized, after which the security agents showed their victim a "search warrant" meant for Justice Okoro. Justice Dimgba Nnamdi was "roughened up" but not immediately arrested. However, a DSS source stated Justice Dimgba is guilty of corruption and had been arrested as well.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Justice Muazu Pindiga, who was arrested in Gombe, was transported to the DSS headquarters in Abuja. A DSS source told our correspondent that Justice Pindiga was cooperating with the DSS regarding his role in a bribery scheme over the Rivers State election tribunal from which he was removed as a judge as Saharareporters exposed him for receiving N100m from Governor Wike.</p>
<p dir="ltr">SaharaReporters learned that Justice Muhammad Ladan Tsamiya, an Appeal Court justice who was recently "compulsorily retired" by the NJC, was not home when a DSS team invaded his home in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja, he reportedly surrendered to the DSS later this morning. <br>
One of the most dramatic scenes took place when the DSS team stormed the home of Justice Adeniyi Ademola. When the team ordered Justice Ademola to come out, the judge claimed he was not home, but his cellphone signal gave him away. He was subsequently arrested with at least N300 million found in different local and foreign currencies in his bedroom. Specifically the same of N54m cash, $171,779. 4,400 Euros, 1,010 Rupees, and 80 pounds was found in his residence.<br>
A different team also arrested Justice Kabiru Auta in Kano. </p>
<p dir="ltr">One DSS source told our reporter that the raids were meant to be carried out by joint DSS and the Nigerian police teams, adding that the police bungled some of the raids by apparently tipping off their targets.<br>
Several security agents stated that the raids took place following independent investigations that were triggered by petitions submitted to the NJC against some of the judges. According to one of the operatives,  none of the nine judges targeted haven't spent their salaries in the last two years. </p>
<p dir="ltr">One source revealed that the raids were originally planned for last week, but had to be postponed for "strategic reasons."<br>
A statement issued by the DSS stated that the agency had recovered large sums of foreign and local currencies. The DSS gave a breakdown of the recovered funds as follows: <br></p>

The agency is making preparations to arraign the arrested justices in court early next week.</p>

<p dir="ltr">The GET INVOLVED CAMPAIGN wishes to alert the nation of a very dangerous dimension in the impending Edo state governorship election slated for September 10, 2016. This statement is intended at ” looking for dark goat before night beckons” since it is now totally clear that the same agents of darkness that have been subverting the will of the people during elections in this country are gathering again , this time through their agents in the security agencies to pervert the cause of justice. It is important  at this point to situate the inglorious role being played of security agencies especially the Nigerian Police few days to the state gubernatorial election to truncate well established plans by the INEC to guarantee a free and fair election in the state.</p>
<p dir="ltr">How else do you explain the sudden redeployment of the Commissioner of Police of the state few days to the election.  While we do not doubt the competence of the new commissioner of police, we  wonder, why now?The sudden transfer by the Police force is a wrong signal as it will undermine the security network and meetings done before now between the security agencies and the commission with a view to ensuring free and fair election and also ensure that the votes of the registered voters count.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The commissioner was transferred to Police College Ikeja. The worrisome aspect of it is that he fully participated in the inter- agency Committe on election security of INEC that is said to have completely overhauled and put in palace new foolproof elections security architecture that was primarily meant to forestall cases of violence induced inconclusive elections and crass manipulation by political actors. This new security strategy was to be tested in Edo State and based on its success adjusted in Ondo for a broader security regime that will be out in place to confine rigging to the dustbin. We also reliably gathered that following this transfer, their is plan to also replace all the Divisional Police Officers (DPO’s) in the state as part of a grand plot to frustrate INEC’s plans and leave the electoral turf as a free for all. This sudden change and movement of security agencies in the state is therefore suspicious as the new structure will only carry out the script of their pay masters at the expense of the electorates.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Based on the aforementioned, we thus use this medium to inform the general public that should anything go wrong with the September 10 election in Edo state, then we should hold the security agencies responsible and by extension the federal government. Their can not be better time to test the new initiative of the electoral umpire,but the changes effected among the leadership of the police in the state is a major blow that might undermine the full execution of the strategy which is needed to prevent inconclusive elections.</p>
<p dir="ltr">INEC, from its official pronouncements is ready for the task ahead and seems to have learnt from its past experiences and has put in place plans to ensure that the election is conclusive and votes of the electorates count, but with this move we all need to rise up and Get Involved in the process to monitor and ensure that rigging is not allowed and the security agencies do not compromise on acceptable standards that would benefit either of the parties involved in the elections.</p>
<p dir="ltr">We are therefore using this medium to warn politicians against any actions that will jeopardize the conduct of elections in the state and calling on the security agencies to stay above board. However, were this timely warning fails, we urge INEC not to be hoodwinked or intimidated into accepting election results that are fraught with anomalies and secured through manipulation of results and violence.  We must support INEC’s initiative to guarantee the nation a free, fair, transparent , credible elections that will mitigate the economic loses that we usually follows flawed elections.</p>

<p dir="ltr">The trend of discussion has gradually shifted from the ruling of The Federal High Court in Abuja to whether Uche Ogah can actually benefit from the spoils araising from the disqualication of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Please read the view of a lawyer present in Court when the judgement was delivered.</p>
<p dir="ltr">This is Monday Ubani Onyekachi’s view titled :</p>
<p dir="ltr">THE CASE OF DR UCHE OGAH AND DR OKEZIE IKPEAZU ALL OF ABIA STATE.</p>
<p dir="ltr">I was present at the Federal High Court Abuja yesterday the  27th of June, 2016 where the judgement of Justice Okon Abang of Federal High Court was delivered. The case made out by Dr UCHE Sampson OGAH against Dr OKEZIE IKPEAZU was the issue of giving false information (not forgery) about his tax receipts and certificates to INEC during the primary election of PDP in December 2014. The constitution and the PDP Electoral Guidelines required a candidate to show evidence of tax payment as and when due for three years running. In supplying these documents Dr OKEZIE IKPEAZU lied on oath in claiming to have paid tax on a Saturday which we all know is a non working day for civil servants all over the country including ABIA State. In another instance he gave an outrageous  annual taxable income different from what was stated in his letter of employment. In another instance he claimed to have paid tax when he was not yet employed by the State. Yet in another he purportedly gave a receipt for 2011 that bore a receipt number that showed clearly that that of 2013 was paid earlier than that of 2011. The mother of all lies was when he purportedly gave a tax certificate that showed that all the taxes were paid in one day! In submitting the form to INEC personally Dr OKEZIE IKPEAZU claimed that every information he gave were correct and true. Now on the face of these findings, those information were found by the court not correct and true. If it is so found that a candidate did not fulfill the requirement of paying his tax as and when due, then he is not qualified to have been presented as a candidate of a political party. Dr UCHE OGAH did not sue for forgery which is a criminal case difficult to prove in civil suit especially on election matters, he did not sue on the gross irregularities that occurred during the primary election witnessed even by some of the security agents who are my friends. I was the chief agent of Dr UCHE OGAH in that primary election and I saw it all.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Having found that  Dr OKEZIE IKPEAZU was not qualified to have participated in the primary of that election, the court  held that he was not qualified to have been presented to INEC for the general election of April, 2015. With that finding which took into account that election has held despite notice by PDP of the pre election case served on them to correct the abnormally, the court refused to be foist with state of helplessness. The court made bold consequential orders ordering Dr OKEZIE IKPEAZU to vacate the governorship seat as he was not qualified to have participated in the PDP primaries let alone the general election in which he allegedly won. The proper candidate Dr UCHE OGAH who should have been presented as the rightful candidate was ordered to be issued with a Certificate of Return and be sworn in immediately by the Chief Judge of the State as the governor of ABIA State. It is important to point out that Dr OKEZIE Ikpeazu’s defense on the case was that the mistake was made by the Board of Internal Revenue(admission in law) and not him and I have heard his press release where he is saying that as a public servant his taxes were supposed to be deducted at source and tax papers given to him. Let him check whether what he submitted to INEC for the election is evidence of deductions at source that showed accurately his earnings and taxes genuinely paid by him. He has threatened to go on appeal(his right actually) and we will watch and see how all this false information given to INEC will be treated by the appellate courts.</p>
<p dir="ltr">This case is very novel and will enrich our jurisprudence greatly. It promises to be interesting times for the legal profession, the State and Nigeria generally.</p>

<p dir="ltr">A Federal High Court in Abuja has sacked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state for allegedly submitting false information to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, ahead of the party’s governorship primary in December 2014.</p>
<p dir="ltr">In his judgement on Monday, June 27, Justice Okon Abang ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately issue a certificate of return to the plaintiff, Uche Ogah, who polled the second highest number of votes in the primary, The Punch reports.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Sahara Reporters is reporting that Justice Okon Abang asked the INEC to cease the certificate of return issued to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as he was never qualified to run for the party primaries in the PDP as a guber candidate.</p>
<p dir="ltr">According to the report, the judge also ordered the Chief Judge of the state to swear in, Uche Ogah, his opponent in the Decmeber 2014 gubernatorial election in state as the substantive governor of Abia state.</p>

Ikpeazu’s problem started after the Nigerian Supreme Court ordered the Federal High Court to retry the case challenging the fraudulent payment of taxes of Governor Ikpeazu before the April 11 governorship election in the state.</p>
<p dir="ltr">It was gathered that some of his opponents in the PDP had approached the Federal High court over the eligibility of Governor Ikpeazu to contest in the primary election conducted for governorship aspirants of the party in the state during the last election in 2015.</p>

<p dir="ltr">Ikpeazu’s opponents had alleged that he was ineligible to contest as he did not pay his taxes of years 2011, 2012 and 2013 as at when due.</p>
<p dir="ltr">According to the group, the taxes he (Ikpeazu) allegedly paid for the three years were paid on the same day. The plaintiff faulted the authenticity of Ikpeazu’s tax clearance certificate and the information contained in his INEC “Form CF100″.</p>
<p dir="ltr">However, in his reaction, Ikpeazu challenged the competence of the Federal High Court Abuja to hear the case but the court overruled his objection. The Court of Appeal however sided him and ruled that the case ought to have been filed at the Abia state High Court.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Determined to get justice, Ikpeazu’s opponents went ahead to seek redress at the Supreme Court following the Court of Appeal ruling and in a judgment handed down on Friday, January 22, by five Supreme Court justices led by Justice Mohammed Muntaka-Coomassie, the court faulted the decision of the Court of Appeal and affirmed the competence of the Federal High Court Abuja to try the case.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The justices ordered the Federal High Court in Abuja to begin a fresh hearing of a suit challenging the qualification of Ikpeazu, adding that the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria to ensure that the case is heard.</p>

 line with the directive of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, 
reconstruction of Aba road, the main arterial Federal road in Port 
Harcourt, has been intensified.<br />

Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike 
recently directed the State Ministry of Works to take concrete measures 
to ensure that all bad spots on the Federal Road are rehabilitated for 
the free flow of traffic.<br />
<br />
On Wednesday, the contractors worked on
 the UTC-Spar section of the Federal Road, reconstructing failed 
portions and placing new layers of asphalt to reinforce the road. While 
issuing the directive to the State Ministry of Works, Governor Wike 
maintained that his administration will always intervene in abandoned 
Federal roads critical to the economy of the state.<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;"><strong>All Progressives Congress</strong> (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, <strong>Dakuku Peterside</strong> has condemned the <u><a href="http://pulse.ng/politics/rivers-rerun-elections-police-ig-warns-hoodlums-politicians-against-violence-id4813631.html" rel="noFollow" target="_blank">upsurge of political violence</a></u> in the state.</span></span></h2>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;">Peterside further described the killings in the state as barbaric, horrendous and inhuman.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;">The APC candidate made the comments during a chat with Vanguard.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;">“Some
 politicians in Rivers state believe they must get power at all cost and
 that is the root cause of the insecurity in Rivers state today. People 
are slaughtered, beheaded, burnt, clubbed to death daily in the state 
and nobody is saying anything about it,” Peterside said.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;">“The
 state government has gone to sleep when it comes to security as if it 
is not part of their responsibility. The situation in Rivers today is 
tragic, terrible, horrendous, frightening, simply inhuman. This is not 
who we are in Rivers state.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;">“24 persons were 
killed in one night at Omoku, 4 persons killed in Obibi Etche in one 
day, somebody burnt alive in Buguma, another person buried alive in 
Gokana, someone clubbed to death in Opobo and so on and so forth. What a
 gory tale fit for primitive societies. It is not only worrisome but it 
diminishes our humanness.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white;">“Military presence in 
the state is more than justifiable and the story line being peddled in 
some quarters that the military are killing people is not true. What you
 have been hearing are stories by some selfish politicians who want the 
Nigerian military out of the area to enable their own army to continue 
to hold sway to the detriment of the ordinary people,” he added.</span></span></div>

<em><strong>Attention is now shifting to Rivers State, where a re-run election is scheduled to hold on Saturday.</strong></em><br />

Reports from Channels Television’s correspondent, Charles Erukka, 
indicate that there is heavy security presence of both soldiers and 
policemen.<br />

There is massive land and air surveillance, as helicopters are seen 
hovering round the city of Port Harcourt to identify any dark spot that 
will need any security beef up before or during Saturday’s re-run, Mr 
Eruka said.<br />

The Inspector General of police had deployed 6,000 policemen to 
Rivers State and there has been apprehension among politicians 
particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the heavy 
deployment.<br />

While the PDP is holding the last lap of its rallies in Bori 
Township, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee
 is holding its meeting in Port Harcourt.<br />

The Rivers State re-run election is holding in the three senatorial 
districts, 11 House of Representatives and 22 State Assembly Seats.<br />

Few days ago, the <a href="http://www.channelstv.com/2016/03/12/189565/">PDP and the APC were in war of words</a> over the re-run election and the recent killings in the state.</div>
