The
Imo State Governor, Mr Rochas Okorocha, has urged all aspiring
political office holders in the state to endeavour to identify with the
grassroots and initiate projects and/or programmes that will touch the
lives of people in the grassroots.
The Governor made this call while commissioning the last of the
series of the Nneoma Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Centre at Ihitte
Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State.
The Governor said every political or elective office has an expiring
date and as such, the positive impact made in many people’s lives
through positive programmes and policies will be the legacy holders of
such offices will be remembered for.
Governor Okorocha further noted that the establishment of the skills
acquisition and empowerment centre by the Office of the First Lady is in
line with his campaign promise of creating employment, industries and
factories in the state.
Chairman of the occasion, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, commended the
APC-led administration in the state for the project, adding that it will
go a long way to tackle the issue of unemployment in the state.
He urged the people of the state to support the APC-led
administration, at federal and state level, to continue to deliver the
dividends of democracy to the people.
The Nneoma Skills Acquisition and Economic Empowerment Centre is
meant to give 3 to 6 months free training on vocational skills such as
fashion designing, cosmetology, photography, catering, hair dressing and
computer training with a certificate affiliated to the Imo State
Polytechnic.
